Billy Hughes Haynes, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved member of his community, passed away April 10, 2026. Born May 18, 1933, Billy's life spanned more than nine decades filled with dedication, love, and service.
Billy proudly served in the United States Army, a testament to his deep commitment to his country. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to Thompson Tractor, where he worked with diligence and eventually retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.
One of the hallmarks of Billy's life was the love he shared with his wife, Carolyn. Together for 63 beautiful years, their partnership was a shining example of enduring devotion. They loved camping, spending precious times immersed in nature’s tranquility, creating lasting memories that enriched their lives and those around them.
Billy’s family was his greatest treasure. He is survived by Carolyn, his devoted wife; his sons Alan Haynes and his wife Carol, and Dan Haynes and his wife Dawn; and his sister, Sandra Hays and her husband Ben. His legacy is lovingly carried on by his grandchildren—Justin Murphree and his wife Brook, Brock Haynes, Amanda Sayre, Nathan Haynes and his wife Alicia, Jessica Haynes, and Bailey Haynes. His great-grandchildren—Perry Murphree, Jackcruze Murphree, Archer Murphree, Ruby Mae Murphree, Karsyn Haynes, Maddison Sayre, Rachel Sayre, Lucas Haynes, Max Haynes, and Ryder Haynes—are a testament to the enduring spirit of his family’s love.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Haynes and Vereda Woods Haynes, and his brother, Max Haynes, who remain forever in the hearts of those who knew them.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Billy’s life will be held on April 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery. Family, friends, and loved ones will gather to bid farewell and cherish the profound impact he made on all their lives.
In reflecting upon Billy Hughes Haynes’s life, we remember a man who embodied kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, forever a guiding light and a source of comfort. Though he passed on, the love he sowed and the memories he created remain timeless blessings to all who were fortunate to know him.
