Christine Buse Campbell

Christine Buse Campbell, age 96, of Shannon, Ala., passed from death into eternal life Jan. 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was the beloved matriarch of her family, a legacy that spans five generations. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rev. S.J. Campbell, Jr.; her son Rick Campbell; and her granddaughter Kristie Spain.

She is survived by her children: Sandra (Charlie), Debbie (Doug), Tim (Cindy), and her daughter-in-law Jan Campbell. She also leaves behind nine  grandchildren: Cindy Sanders (Greg), Sonya Mink (Blane), Greg Allen (Wendy), Michelle Allen, Sean Campbell, Andrea Lee (Brett), Jason Spain (Carol), Josh Campbell (Ashley), and Alex Campbell (Paige); 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Known affectionately as “Granny,” Christine was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Shannon and the oldest member of her close-knit Shannon community. She was a faithful pastor’s wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She found joy in Alabama football, crafting, fishing, westerns, flowers, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

A small graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Wynnville Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Shannon. Services were officiated by Rev. Tom Hannah.

Pallbearers were grandsons Greg Allen, Jason Spain, Josh Campbell, Alex Campbell, and great-grandsons Brett Sanders and Ryne Sanders.

The family would like to thank her medical team and caregivers for the wonderful, compassionate care she received.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Shannon in honor of her memory.
