Billy Wayne Hutchens

Billy Wayne Hutchens, age 79, of Snead, Ala., passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at UAB hospital. He was married 57 years to Flonez Bryant, the love of his life. He worked for 31 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Gadsden. He was a member of the National Guard in Oneonta for 25 years and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served as a deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church.

 He was preceded in death by parents William Boyd Hutchens and Agnes Blakely Hutchens; son-in-law Billy McDerment; brothers Aaron Hutchens and Kenneth Hutchens; sister Kay Hutchens; brothers-in-laws Welton Woods, DL Bryant, and James Bryant; sister-in-law Marie Thomas.

 He is survived by wife Flonez Bryant Hutchens; children Carolyn Phillips (Todd), Brant Hutchens (Sherene), Patti McDerment (Len Kubik), Keith Hutchens (Paige); grandchildren Brandon Phillips, Britney Phillips (Bryan Ayers), Reilly McDerment (DJ), Logan McDerment, Maegan Tatum (Jarad), Ethan McDerment, Autumn Hutchens, William Hutchens (Haley), Peyton McDerment, Jessi Hutchens, Luke Hutchens, Kaleb Hutchens, Cole Hutchens; great grandchildren Ember Champion, Jameson Ayers, Alastar McDerment; brothers Ralph Hutchens (Melba), Charles Hutchens (Kathy), Max Hutchens; sisters Sarah Hutchens, Glenda Woods (Elton), Janice Woods, Kelly Lynn Hutchens; sister-in-laws Mary Hutchens, Linda Hutchens, Annie Ruth Hogland, Sue Wood; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends Charles and Shelia Ingram.

 The family received friends on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Lemley Funeral Home from noon until 2 p.m. A funeral service was held in the chapel beginning at 2 p.m. with Mark Dennis, Robbie Burtram, and Jeff Bullard presiding. Burial followed in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Cleveland. 

Asked to serve as pallbearers were Reilly McDerment, Logan McDerment, Ethan McDerment, William Hutchens, Michael Hutchens, Jeremy Hutchens. Honorary pallbearers wer Dale Hutchens and Phillip Hutchens.
