Dennis Horton

Dennis Horton, age 87, of Cleveland passed away Friday March 21, 2025, at UAB Freestanding ER in Gardendale. Dennis was born June 21, 1937, in Blount County, the son of Talmadge Horton and Agnes Beavers Horton. He was married on March 31, 1955, to Syble Walker Horton. They were married 69 years at the time of her death.

Dennis was a 1957 graduate of Cleveland High School. He had owned and operated Dennis Horton Trucking for many years. He was a member of Haw Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters Nena (Ted) Self and Neda Maddux (Chris Pridmore); brother Doyle (Betty June) Horton; grandchildren Teddy Self, Chad (Tricia) Self, Lyndsey (Brandon) McQueen, Ashley (Ja- mie) Faust, Anna (Brandon) Brewer and Alyssa (Jason Harper); 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Talmadge and Agnes Horton; wife Syble Horton; and granddaughter-in-law Nichole Self.

Funeral service was Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Blountsville Funeral Home with Brian Weems and Jason Bryson officiating. Burial was in Dailey’s Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ted Self, Teddy Self, Chad Self, Christopher Longshore, Dylan Self and Eli Ellsworth.
