Wind causing trees to fall on powerlines, sparking fires in Oneonta

Oneonta public safety officer Brandon Horton reported that multiple units were on scene at U.S. Hwy. 231 and State Road trying to contain a woods fire. The fire started after strong winds caused trees to fall on power lines. City officials urge every to avoid 231 N in the curve at State Road if possible.  Oneonta Fire & Rescue Service is working to contain the fire to keep it from spreading any further in these strong winds.
