Cummings Smith, age 90, of Springville and the Pine Mountain Community, passed away on Jan. 16, 2025.

Sue was a member of the Pine Mountain Community Church and worked as a hairdresser for more than 42 years, until the age of 85. She loved doing arts and crafts and even did ceramic craft painting with the Senior Center in Odenville. Sue also enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends who she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by husband Edward Smith; sons Leon W. and George W. Bryant; parents Claude P. and Beulah V. Hall Cummings; brothers Grady, Michael, C.P., Clyde, and Gary Cummings; sisters Shelbia Ritchey and Betty Jo Deshazo.

She is survived by sons Tim and Jeff Bryant (Tammy); daughter Barbara Sue Atkinson (Curtis); grandchildren Stephanie Williams (Jon), Curtis Atkinson Jr. (Anna), Joshua Atkinson, Shannon Panos (Jeremy), Amber Brown (Jacob), Jarred Bryant, Derek Bryant (Jackie), and Anna Hathcock (Zach); 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother Billy Cummings (Peggy).

A funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Pine Mountain Community Church with Bud Swindle and Curtis Atkinson presiding. Burial followed in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. Pallbearers were Derek Bryant, Curtis Atkinson Jr., Josh Atkinson, Art Deshazo, Sam Atkinson, and Will Tice.
