Timothy Richard Butler

Timothy Richard Butler, 70, of Oneonta, passed away on Dec. 14, 2024, from complications of a stroke. Born in Duluth, Ga., to David and Martha Butler, Tim was one of eight children.

A graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Agricultural Economics, Tim was a proud Bulldog fan and member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He built a successful career in the propane gas industry, respected for his humor, generosity, and friendships.
Tim was a talented watercolor artist, musician, and craftsman, who shared his love for creativity, music, and the outdoors with his family, teaching them to hunt, fish, and appreciate nature.
He was a devoted member of Lester Memorial Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School Class, and a past president of the Oneonta Jaycees. Inspired by his own experiences using public transportation for medical appointments, Tim assisted with the creation of OMC Bus Ministry to help others in need.
Tim is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Marcia; children, Martha Whitney (Wes), Caroline, William (Shelly), and Ben (Lisa); grandchildren, Ryan (Leah), Ella, Reese, and Clementine; three sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his son, Heath.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lester Memorial Methodist Church Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. until funeral time.
