Carolyn Alexander, 75, of Oneonta, passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2024, at UAB St. Vincent’s East Hospital.

Carolyn was born on Jan. 2, 1949, in Oneonta, the daughter of Billy and Geraldine Kyle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Gary (Sam) Kyle, Loretta (Feen) Brown, Katrina Wilkerson, Ben Polk, and Peggy Ann Elliott.
Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, whose legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Timothy Alexander; her children, Anthony Polk, Shawn Alexander, Adidas Byers, Twila (Devon) White, and bonus daughter Yolanda Kyle. She was also a cherished grandmother and will be deeply missed by her 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by her brothers Woodson (Kimberly) Kyle and Joel (Mary) Kyle; sister, Jeanette Russell; sisters-in-law Alas Alexander, Priscilla (Louis) Byers, and Ruthie Carol Alexander Floyd; Aunt and Uncle, Betty (Harvey) Kyle and James Lee (Daisy) Singletery; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Carolyn was known for her kind and generous spirit. She devoted herself to her family, offering support, encouragement, and love to those around her.
Her family and friends will remember her for her strength, compassion, and the joy she brought to every room. Carolyn’s love for her family and everyone she encountered was boundless, and her memory will be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Carolyn’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Mrs. Alexander lay in state at First Baptist Church of Oneonta on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, from 10 a.m. until noon. A funeral service was held at the church beginning at noon. Burial followed in Old Liberty Cemetery.
