Rodger Carl Armstrong
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rodger Carl Armstrong, age 53, of Warrior, on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, after a cou- rageous fight with cancer.
Rodger was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He loved God and
his family fiercely, a love that was unmistak- able to anyone who met him. Married to his high school sweetheart Lisa Armstrong for 29 years, their bond spanned a beautiful 33 years together. Rodger’s faith was central to his life, and he shared his testimony with everyone
he met, including the healthcare workers who cared for him. His greatest hope was that his journey would bring glory to God and serve as a testament to unwavering faith.
Rodger was incredibly proud of his daugh- ters, Olivia and Ansley. He cherished the mile- stones they achieved: Olivia’s graduation from
Auburn and her wedding to Tucker Massey, which took place at his hospital bedside the day before his passing, and Ansley’s success as a softball player, including her return to the field this fall.
Rodger was also proud of his personal
and professional achievements. He returned to college to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Huntingdon College while raising a young family. An IT Manager at UAB for 24 years, he was admired for his dedication and expertise. Rodger had also begun pursuing fitness goals, completing his first 5K in November 2023 and preparing for a half-marathon before his diag- nosis in March 2024.
Rodger is now healed and whole, rejoicing in the presence of Jesus in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by his grandpar- ents, Calvin and Helen Armstrong, and T.A. and Evelyn Jenkins.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Armstrong; his daughters, Olivia (Tucker) Massey and Ansley Armstrong; his parents, Ray and Judy Armstrong; his in-laws, Delane and Patty Moon; his brother, Chris Arm- strong; his siblings-in-law, Lee and David Karcher and Mark and Kelly Moon; his niec- es and nephews, Dani (Chase) Mote, Katelyn Karcher, Samantha Karcher, Collin Moon, Jon Caden Moon, Mollie Moon, Lillian Moon, and Montana Armstrong; his great-nephew, Simon Mote; and cherished friends, Carey, Vicky, Taylor, and Haley McAdams.
Rodger’s legacy of love, faith, and perse- verance will forever inspire those who knew him. He has finished his race and kept the faith.
