CAROL T. STEVENSON

CAROL T. STEVENSON passed from this life on Oct. 25, 2024. She was born in Blount County on July 9, 1939, to Albert and Mae Teague. She married Wayne Stevenson in 1956 and they remained happily married until his untimely death in 1991.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Albert Ray Teague, her husband, Wayne Stevenson, and son, Mike Stevenson. She is survived by daugh- ters, Debbi Galloway (Mike) and Sherri Mitchell; grandchildren, Patrick Galloway, Jay Mitchell (Katie), Andy Mitchell, and Lauren Quick; great grandsons, JT Mitchell and Cooper Quick; sisters, Janie Curl (Leto)

and Pharis Martin; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Carol was a graduate of Locust Fork High School and
taught English, Spanish, and ESL at Oneonta High School for twenty-five years. She was also known to give many English lessons to those within hearing and didn’t hesitate to correct someone’s grammar. She had numerous degrees in- cluding an associate degree from Jefferson State Com- munity College, a BA, MA, and Ed.S from UAB. After retirement, she was blessed to travel to many destina- tions across the U.S. and the world. She loved Alabama football, reading, and Suduko. However, her favorite pastime was being with her family and she always put others before herself.

Carol was a member of First Baptist Church of Oneonta for over sixty years and made sure that her family was raised in the church. She taught children’s Sunday School classes and assisted with Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a member of WMU at First Baptist and a member of the Rose Garden Club.

The family received friends on Monday Oct. 28, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lemley Funeral Home. A funeral service was held in the Chapel beginning
at 3 p.m. with Dr. Larry Gipson presiding. Graveside service and burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Patrick Galloway, Jay Mitchell, Andy Mitchell, Robert Debter, Steven Phillips, and Tyler Cor- vin. Honorary pallbearers are Leto Curl and Rob Curl.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or First Baptist Church of Oneonta.
