Shawn Allen Thomas

Shawn Allen Thomas, 42, of Hayden, Ala., passed away on June 11, 2024. He was born on Aug. 21, 1981, in Birmingham, Ala. Shawn was the beloved husband of Tara Bridgmon.

Shawn was the Site Plant Manager of Packer Sanitation in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a member of Nectar FCM Church in Nectar, Alabama.

He enjoyed working at his job, loved his dogs YoYo and Memphis, was an avid Alabama Football Fan, enjoyed playing baseball, and playing golf. In his later years, he found joy in playing video games, but above all, he cherished his family.

Shawn is survived by his wife Tara Bridgmon, his mother Rhonda Lynn Thomas, his maternal grandmother Bonnie Jean Thomas, aunts Annette Gunter (Danny), Donna Dodd (Barry), and Pam Adams (Ricky), his uncles Phillip Horton (Freida), Mark Malone (Dawn), Mike Malone, and Eck Rogers, along with numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Steven Allen Thomas, his sister Stephanie Lynn Thomas, and paternal grandparents Onis and Imogene Thomas.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home 17885 State Highway 160 Cleveland, Ala. 35049, followed by a service at 3 pm in the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mike Murphree and the Reverend Stoney Dorning officiating. Burial followed in Nectar Cemetery in Nectar, Ala. Pallbearers were Dakoda Buse, Chris Horton, Brian Horton, Dustin Gunter, James Hamilton, Robert Morrse, John Marsh, and Blake McHan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blount County Animal Shelter.
